Top 3 Woodbine Weekend Highlights (July 6-7)

Champion jockey Kazushi Kimura, who won four races on Sunday, swept the weekend stakes action, including a victory in the $135,000 Hendrie (G3) on Saturday. The multiple graded stakes-winning rider then hit the double on Sunday, winning the Lake Huron with Live Lucky and the Georgian Bay with Little Teddy.

Rafael Hernandez rode a pair of winners on Saturday’s card. The multiple graded stakes-winning rider, who has over 3,100 career victories, teamed with Caitlinhergreatness to take the sixth, and was back in the winner’s circle one race later with Queen Matcha.

Ontario, owned by NK Racing and LNJ Foxwoods, had a smart debut on Sunday. Trained by Josie Carroll and ridden by Sofia Vives, the 3-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper rallied from last to win the 6 ½-furlong main track race by three lengths.

Rolling Along, trained by Josie Carroll, took Saturday’s first race by 7 ½ lengths. Gilt Edge, with Daisuke Fukumoto in the irons, delivered trainer Sandy McPherson a victory in the fourth race on Saturday. Misty Point made her career bow a memorable one, taking Saturday’s fifth race by 1 ¼ lengths and returning $20.40 for the win.

Live racing continues this weekend. On Saturday, the $125,000 My Dear Stakes and $100,000 Ballade Stakes are the co-features. On Sunday, the $125,000 Victoria Stakes takes centre stage. Post time is 1:05 p.m. for both days.
