This weekly feature offers a look back at the best Thoroughbred races and/or performances of the week at Woodbine.

#5 – Friday, April 8; Race 6 – The $25K maiden claimer features the first head bob finish of the year as Saucy Stash (jockey Eurico Rosa da Silva and trainer Steve Asmussen) held off the stretch-running Bigasmar to win by a nose.

#4 – Saturday, April 9; Race 7 – Early season sprints don’t usually spawn multiple leaders but Saturday’s 7th saw Gracious Gloria take the early lead, lose it to Malvina’s Ring, who was picked off late by Nicola’s Knickers, partnered by Emma-Jayne Wilson for Nick Gonzalez.

#3 – Sunday, April 10; Race 1 – Decadent ($40.70) and Jolson, 41-1, baffled most bettors with their efforts in Sunday’s opener as the pair combined for $470 exactor. The 6-5 choice and the 7-5 second choice missed the board.

#2 – Saturday, April 9; Race 8; Star Shoot Stakes – Portside upset the 56th edition of the Star Shoot with a dramatic last-to-first rush for Emma-Jayne Wilson and Barbara Minshall. She paid $24.80 to win.

#1 – Friday, April 8; Race 8 – D’Oro Diablo earned the highest Daily Racing Form Beyer figure of the meet, 92, with a very fast 1:03.36 for 5 ½ furlongs in Friday’s 8th for Tyler Pizarro and Sid Attard. Second highest Beyer of the meet? The runner-up, Dancingall Theway, 88.
