Woodbine cancels remainder of Friday card

August 4, 2017

TORONTO, August 4 – Woodbine Racetrack has been forced to cancel the remainder of Friday’s live Thoroughbred racing program following the evening’s third race.
Inclement weather, including persistent thunder and lightning in the surrounding area, resulted in the cancellation of races four through eight.
"In the best interest of the safety of everyone involved from horses, riders and staff alike, we decided to cancel the remainder of this evening’s card," said Steve Lym, Woodbine’s Director of Thoroughbred Racing. "We will try to re-card the cancelled races in the coming week."
Live racing is scheduled to resume at Woodbine on Saturday, Aug. 5, featuring the $125,000 Clarendon Stakes (race eight). First race post time is set for 1 p.m.
