TORONTO, September 16, 2021 – The $125,000 Woodbine Cares Stakes and the $125,000 Ontario Racing Stakes complement Sunday’s card of racing at Woodbine co-headlined by the Grade 1 $400,000 Summer Stakes, and Grade 1 $400,000 Natalma Stakes, both Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” events. Scheduled as race three, the Ontario Racing Stakes has drawn five two-year-olds. Contested at five furlongs over the Inner Turf, the race features San Costantino, a grey son of Violence trained by Timothy Hamm. Bred and co-owned by Tracy Farmer, the colt made his debut a winning, taking a 5 ½-furlong main track race at Presque Isle Downs on August 24. Diamond City, a chestnut son of Shackleford trained by Mark Casse for D.J. Stable LLC, has posted two thirds in his first two starts. Slated as race seven, seven two-year-old filly hopefuls are set to meet in the 5-furlong Woodbine Cares Stakes, also run on the Inner Turf. Dufresne, a bay daughter of Uncaptured trained by Michael Trombetta, broke her maiden in her second start on August 12 at Saratoga. A first time out winner, Derrynane was fifth in the Bolton Stakes on August 18. The daughter of Quality Road is bred and owned by Waterville Lake Stable. Hall of Famer trainer Mark Casse sends out the duo of Mo Touring and Fulminate.
