Handicapper and racing analyst Doug McPherson offers his insight on each horse in Saturday’s ninth race, the Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes, on June 28 at Woodbine. Race 9 (5:39 p.m. ET) Purse $150,000. One And One Eighth Miles. (All Weather Track) (Plus $30,000 – State Bred). For Four-Year-Olds and Upward. McPherson’s $20 bet: $20 win 7 Race 9 – The Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes #1 Bail Us Out – Closed to be second in an N2X/$50,000 on the inner turf on June 1, a race which Swift Delivery exited to win. Nearly upset Dresden Row in last year’s Ontario Derby. #2 Fashionably Fab – Wide throughout in the Belle Mahone when finishing midpack. Tries every time but is in against some salty colts; small share. #3 Stanley House – Is trying to get back into form. Graded Stakes-placed many times, he is much more capable than he has shown in his two most recent starts; worth a shot at a big price. #4 Fly the W – A Synthetic superstar in South Florida in recent years. Ran a credible fifth in the Appleton in his first start off the claim; very intrigued to see how he fares in his local debut. #5 Funtastic Again – Another logical option in this very wide-open affair. Three wins and two Grade 3 placings in five starts on synthetic; Ward-trainee was a half-length away from a Grade 1 win last year. #6 Dancin’ in Da’nile – Rallied to finish on the edges in the Eclipse on May 31. Solid horse but probably a step below these; will be happy to stretch out a bit later in the season. #7 Essex Serpent (pictured, Michael Burns Photography) – Dreadful in the King’s Plate and Prince of Wales last year; returned from the sidelines with a glimmer of brilliance against N2X/$50,000 and could be a threat to wire them today. #8 Classic Mo Town – A remarkably consistent gelding since being claimed for just $25,000 in Florida last year. Rallied to win the Eclipse and will likely run on for a share here barring any poor luck. Share This:Share
