Mother Nature continues to be kind to us this fall as it looks like we have “sweater weather “ in the forecast again this weekend, ideal conditions for late October turf racing. We have a stellar group of ladies vying for their first career victory going 1 1/8th on the grass. Lots of distance, class and surface questions, so let’s have a look: Saturday, Race 7 Top Selection: #7 Ashlee B 3-1 Hard-trying filly has rounded out trifecta in all of her three starts over the lawn, but just hasn’t been able to secure a victory. Most recently she was third in the Wonder Where to Dixie Law and Katie’s Grace, who have been in top form all season competing at the highest level. She should be well suited against this group and love how her numbers are trending up as we head into the final stages of the season. Important to note the jockey change to Moran this time out. Ashlee B. Wildcard #3 Radar Woman 20-1 Her career debut was flat, and for whatever reason she is a late arrival to the races so she is playing catch up to her much more experienced peers. While this looks like a monster task on paper, her sire Diversidero was a multiple graded stakes winner on the lawn earning over $1.6m in his career. Trainer Jordon Lay’s only other starter this season, Go Olivia, followed a similar path, sprinting in her first career start (finishing a distant fifth) before graduating going a mile on the inner turf at a whopping 36-1. She makes for an interesting wildcard as she likely needed a start under her belt and routing on the grass may be more up her alley, class is a question. Longshot #6 Whiskey Over Wine 12-1 Vino Rosso filly has put forth some sneaky good efforts this campaign and think she is a must use for a variety of reasons. Firstly, her second place effort most recently was deceiving as Hernandez won the race with a crafty trip on the front end with Going Platinum, who was nominated to the Eternal Search but did not enter. Secondly, she gets in light with apprentice Douglas keeping the call which could be a significant advantage going this distance. Thirdly, the gal who bested her three back over this course ,Backstreet Emma, was a next out winner with a 76 Beyer. Not to mention her sire was a three-time G1 winner (on the dirt) including the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic. With a clean trip, she could pull off the upset. The Play: $2 exacta 6,7/2,6,7,9 = $12 $1trifecta 6,7/2,6,7/2,3,6,7,9 = $12 for a total $24 Good luck and safe trips for all. Share This:Share
