TORONTO, November 4, 2018—Chiefswood Stable’s homebred two-year-old filly Bold Script was a dominant winner in the 73rd running of $225,000 Princess Elizabeth Stakes on Sunday afternoon at Woodbine Racetrack. Gary Boulanger worked out the winning trip aboard the Stuart Simon-trained Bold Script in the 1-1/16 mile main track feature for Canadian-bred juvenile fillies. Bold Script tracked the pacesetting Malibu Dawn (:25.11, :50.11 and 1:14.41) all the way into the final turn where she took over command and romped away to win by 7-1/2 lengths in 1:45.20. It was a 2-3 finish for Windhaven Farms as Lady Azalea nosed out 3-5 favourite Tiz Breathtaking in a place photo. “Our big concern was the two turns and how much she’d shut off because she’s a pretty aggressive filly in the morning,” said Boulanger. “Stu said, ‘That’s up to you Gary, you ride her with confidence.’ “She broke and she perked her ears right away,” said Boulanger of the eager filly who took off for her jockey when the time was right. “She’s a really nice filly, Stu’s done a great job with her. I’m just happy I get to be a part of it.” After finishing no worse than third in her first four career starts on the turf, Bold Script was sent postward as the 2-1 second choice and returned $6.30 to win. Following her successful career debut in mid-July, the Speightstown filly out of the stakes-winning mare Original Script had finished third in the Catch A Glimpse Stakes and Grade 1 Natalma, and was the runner-up in the Cup and Saucer. “She’s been just a dream filly to train,” said Simon. “These are the kind that you get up early in the morning for and she just does everything right, she always has. She trains over every surface well. I just can’t say enough about her, she’s just a pleasure to have.” Bold Script and Gary Boulanger winning the Princess Elizabeth Stakes on November 4 at Woodbine.
