Race #9 Breeders’ Stakes, 3 Year Olds, $400,000, 1 ½ miles on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course Top Contenders #7 Dancin in Da’nile (8-1) should appreciate going back to the turf which I think is his preferred surface as I have mentioned previously. He was so impressive in that race over the Inner Turf to start the year taking on older company, and was unfortunate to not win at a huge price. That being said, his effort in the Queens’ Plate finishing fifth to the incredible Moira after a wide trip the whole way was really solid. Now he has had a rest in preparation for this spot, ran a fourth in the Cup and Saucer over a yielding course last year while encountering traffic issues. Win contender at a price if we get it. #3 Hall of Dreams (3-1) has been just super competitive this whole year, another one that should love the turf being out of Lemon Drop Kid. Distance should be no issue for him either and has been working over the surface in preparation for this race. He also has had a little freshening since the Queen’s Plate by skipping the Prince of Wales, if his synthetic form transfers over he should be right there at the wire. #1 Lac Macaza (6-1) ran super in the Toronto Cup in which he was making his turf debut, closed hard late and ran out of ground, so should appreciate the added distance here. Very nice rebound effort after a few tough synthetic races in the Marine and Plate Trial which has really provided him valuable racing experience. Definite potential to move forward again. #9 Sir for Sure (4-1) encountered some tough racing luck last out losing his jockey in the Prince of Wales Stakes. He is a serious contender here as we know this huge son of Sligo Bay will love the distance as that’s his strength. The surface switch shouldn’t be an issue. Longshot Play #2 Gaston (10-1) is making his stakes debut after a later start to his racing career. Was a gritty, workmanlike winner last out. Steadily improving colt at a time where others may have some fatigue setting in from tough summer campaigns. This will be his third start over the turf course so he is proven where others may have questions, Also note, same connections as the phenomenal Queen’s Plate winner Moira. My Plays I have been waiting for Dancin in Da’nile back on the turf. Win bet if we can get over 5-1 and will key in my exacta and trifecta with the above-mentioned horses. May throw in another longshot depending on how the board shapes up. Good Luck!!! Sheri Riddoch/@gofilly, For Woodbine Communications Share This:Share
