Clocker Report: Horses to watch in the Breeders’ Stakes

August 18, 2017

TORONTO, August 18 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri comments on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

Sunday, Breeders’ Stakes (Race 8) – Seeking Albert

Ernie said: "On August 6, Seeking Albert, with David Moran up, worked on the dirt training track in 1:14b with the first five-eighths in 1:01 with a strong gallop out. He will love the distance track. He had a main track follow up in an easy 1:01.60."

Sunday, Breeders’ Stakes (Race 8) – Cool Catomine

Ernie said: "Cool Catomine, with Luis Contreras, worked on August 9 on the turf training track in 1:14.80H. He worked in company with Lokinforpursemonee, who went a little easier that day."

Sunday, Breeders’ Stakes (Race 8) – Final Copy, Major Eclipse, Glencairn

Ernie said: "Final Copy (1:01.80b, Patrick Husbands), Major Eclipse (1:00.80b, Jesse Campbell), and Glencairn (1:00.80b) all worked on August 13 on the main track after the break track was rated 2.5, not particularly fast. I am presuming the work was scheduled for the main turf that day, but was taken off due to rain. That being said, both Major Eclipse and Glencairn finished five lengths ahead of Final Copy."
