May 18, 2017

TORONTO, May 18 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri will comment on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]
Friday, Race 2 – Midnight Strider
Ernie said: "Midnight Strider, trained by Darwin Banach, worked on April 10 in company with a stablemate (Tripllindee) going three furlongs in :35b, coming home in :23.40. This one appears to have a bright future. Very mature at this stage. Dirt Track rated 3 great shape.
Saturday, Race 4 – Pierre Mince
Ernie said: "On April 28, Pierre Mince went in :46.60b for trainer Michelle Love. He worked in company with That’s Claire (:47h) and cruised by that one easily. Emma-Jayne Wilson has been aboard in the morning. I’m looking for this barn to have a good weekend. Follow up work in :59.80b."
Saturday, Race 6 – Sweet Romance
Ernie said: "Sweet Romance breezed in :48b under Patrick Husbands for trainer Malcolm Pierce. He went the first quarter in :23.80 and the final in an easy :24.20 working after the break on an even track rated 3."
Sunday, Race 10 – Butlers Pick
Ernie said: "On May 7, Butlers Pick went in :59.60 with Eurico Rosa Da Silva up for Darwin Banach. The chestnut outworked stablemate Prized Bourbon convincingly, later in the day on a very even track rated 3."
