Clocker Report: Horses to watch this weekend

June 7, 2019

TORONTO, June 7, 2019 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri comments on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key in on for upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]

Saturday, Race 4 – Close Image

Close Image has been working up a storm for Sylvain Pion. Her last five works have been under a minute. Her work back on April 18 featured splits of :23.20, :34.60, :46.1, 59.20, out in 1:13.20. All of her works have been on the training track. She now runs on turf and has good turf form.

Saturday, Race 5 – This Round’s Mine

This Round’s Mine has been working in company recently for Catherine Day-Phillips. The work on May 18 was in company with Killag Kate in :47.80 breezing – that is a good frame of reference.

Saturday, Race 6 – Pearl Heist

Pearl Heist worked for Darwin Banach worked on June 6 in :46 flat with ease. She could have even gone quicker. She has not lost a race yet (two-for-two) and will be trying the turf for the first time, but looks racing fit.

Saturday, Race 8 – Intanga Rose

Intanga Rose worked on June 2 for Sid Attard in a 1:00.2, out in 1:12.80, with Da Silva aboard. This looked like her best work this year. She will have first-time Lasix – her trainer is hitting at 67 per cent with this angle and may go gate-to-wire.
