Clocker Report: Horses to watch this weekend

September 14, 2017

TORONTO, September 14 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri comments on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]

Friday, Race 6 – Sable Island
Ernie said: “Sable Island worked on August 13 in 1:00.80 from the gate with Wilson up for Colbourne. Emma has put in a lot of time with this one. He has worked several times showing some promise. After the break, the track was fair, rated 3."

Saturday, Race 4 – Angel
Ernie said: “Angel worked on August 20 in :59.80b, outworking Power Empire (1:01.20) before the break with the track rated 3 fair. She has been working in company. The only horse to beat it in a work was Wonder Gadot.”

Saturday, Race 8 (Canadian Stakes) – Starship Jubilee
Ernie said: “Starship Jubilee worked in :48.80b on September 9 on the training track for Kevin Attard. The track was extremely deep and slow that morning so she will gain a lot from a fitness perspective as the time was very quick.”

Sunday, Race 9 (Natalma Stakes) – Delamar
Ernie said: “Delamar worked in :58.60b on September 5 for Attfield. She outworked Magic Tapit just before the break when the track was slow, rated 3. Going to be a very good price, but has potential.”
