In this Friday’s special Queen’s Plate edition, he provides some notes on works from contenders heading into the first jewel of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown. Avie’s Flatter, trained by Josie Carroll with exercise rider up, worked on June 16 in :58, first three-eighths in :34.20 and final quarter in :23.80. Brilliant work. On June 23, he worked a half in :47.80, out in 1:00.20. An easy maintenance work. Skywire worked for Mark Casse with jockey Eurico Rosa da Silva up on June 16 in :58. He started two lengths behind Explorationist and then finished two in front. Nice move. On June 23, he worked a half in :47, beating company by two lengths, out in :59.80 in some traffic. One Bad Boy worked for Richard Baltas with Jerome Lermyte up on June 22 in :47.80, out in :59.40, up in 1:13.40. He really took to the Tapeta with a beautiful reaching stride. Rising Star worked on June 23 for Mike De Paulo with jockey Jesse Campbell up in :59.20, out in 1:12 with a final quarter in :23.60. He can be a closer for a piece at a nice price. Moon Swings worked for De Paulo on June 23 in :59.20. Good move. Pay for Peace worked for Rachel Halden with jockey Rafael Hernandez upon June 22. He worked in 1:00.40, out in 1:13.80, with Ambitious Moon then galloped out well in front of Ambitious Moon. He’s a Macho Man worked on June 23 for Josie Carroll with Patrick Husbands up in :59.80. Suitedconnected worked for Earl Barnett with jockey Gary Boulanger up on June 23. He worked in :59.40 from the half-mile pole with the first half in :47.80.
