TORONTO, June 23—Dream It Is, a sharp winner at first asking, will be looking to double up here Saturday in the $100,000 My Dear Stakes. The My Dear, an open five-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies, attracted a field of nine including three from south of the border. Barbara Minshall, who trains Dream It Is for Andrew Hudson’s Hoolie Racing Stable LLC, believed she had a runner when the Kentucky-bred checked in from South Carolina early this spring. “The filly was down with Travis Durr, at the Webb Carroll Training Center,” said Minshall. “She was advanced when she arrived. “As soon as she got here, I could tell she was a nice filly. I’ve liked her right from the get-go.” Dream It Is verified Minshall’s opinion in her May 27 debut, leading throughout for a 1 ¼ length score. “I figured she’d run really well; she’d breezed really well, and she was training well,” said Minshall. “We were pretty high on her; I liked her a lot.” A bullet work of :46.60 last Saturday should have Dream It Is on her toes for this stakes foray. “Hopefully, she’ll take another step forward,” said Minshall. Luis Contreras again will partner Dream It Is, who drew favorably in post 7. Jamaica Me Home… Jamaica Me Home, coming off a 38-1 maiden romp in her second career start, will be looking to confirm that form for trainer Gord Colbourne. After finishing a well beaten fifth in her May 19 debut, Jamaica Me Home returned on June 10 was away alertly en route to a 4 3/4 length victory under returning rider Devon Johnson. The dramatic improvement was no major surprise to Colbourne, who conditions Jamaica Me Home for Carole Johnson’s Rise Again outfit. “She had a bad break, and kind of run a little green on me in that first race,” said Colbourne. “Then she came back between those races and worked brilliant, just did everything right. I thought she had enough talent.” Colbourne does profess concern over the fact that the My Dear comes just 14 days after Jamaica Me Home’s sharp score. “It’s a 2-year-old, and two weeks back is quite a bit for a 2-year-old,” said Colbourne. Jamaica Me Home drew post 8 with Johnson again named. Glamanation and Josephine, who finished second and third behind Dream It Is when also debuting, have license to turn the tables in this contentious field. Trained by Mike Doyle, Glamanation stalked the winner throughout that day and saved the place by a head over a charging Josephine. David Moran retains the mount on Glamanation with Jerome Lermyte returning aboard Josephine. Mark Casse, who trains Josephine, also has first-time starter Wild and Funny in the My Dear lineup. The My Dear shippers are Lounge Act, a romping winner on Gulfstream’s turf for then trainer Wesley Ward in her second start; Obsolete, a winner first crack out at Indiana Grand for conditioner Michael Lauer; and Presage, runner-up in her opener at Presque Isle Downs for Eoin Harty. Lounge Act raced for Brian Kahn in her debut but now runs in a partnership including that owner and is trained by Brad Cox. The filly has been training at Keeneland. Local riders will do the honors with Rafael Hernandez picking up the mount on Lounge Act, Jesse Campbell named on Obsolete and Gary Boulanger aboard Presage. Gossip Isle, a debutante conditioned by Darwin Banach, will go postward under Eurico Da Silva. Share This:Share
