(Files provided by Fort Erie Race Track) FORT ERIE, July 21 – Fort Erie Race Track will host seven of the finest Canadian-bred three-year-old horses on Tuesday, July 25, as they compete for the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes. The race is the 2nd Jewel in the Canadian Triple Crown, and Fort Erie Race Track’s signature event. Jurojin shipped down to Fort Erie earlier in the week, and after working on the track, trainer Harold Ladouceur feels confident about the race. “I was happy with his work and his training. He seems to be liking it here, he’s eating well and doing everything right,” said Ladouceur. Jurojin drew the 7th position in the starting gate. “I hope the weather is nice and sunny and warm, and that the track is fast because my horse seems to like the track. I feel it’s going to be a good race, all I can do is hope for the best.” Tiz a Slam, owned by Chiefswood Stable and trained by Roger Attfield is looking for a victory after finishing second in the Queen’s Plate on Sunday, July 2. Eurico Rosa Da Silva will once again take the reins, hoping to capture another Prince of Wales win. Trainer Mark Casse has entered State of Honor, who started in the Queen’s Plate and the Kentucky Derby earlier this season. Other starters from the Queen’s Plate include Spirit of Caledon, trained by Pat Parente, and Aurora Way, trained by Stuart C. Simon. Rounding out the entries for Tuesday’s race are Woodbridge with jockey David Moran, and Cool Catomine with jockey Luis Contreras. Contreras captured the 2016 Prince of Wales aboard Amis Gizmo. The Prince of Wales Stakes will be the eighth of nine races on Tuesday’s card. First race post time is 4:20 p.m. with the Prince of Wales scheduled for about 7:45 p.m. Fans can dine from a variety of food trucks that will be onsite, and enjoy live music throughout the grounds. After the races, The Figure Four will be playing a free concert at the trackside Tiki Bar. Parking and Admission are always free at Fort Erie Race Track.
