Fourth Time’s the Charm After coming up short in the Pegasus World Cup (G1) on three separate occasions, Skippylongstocking, at 21-1, finally found his way to the top of the coveted $3 million contest this past Saturday at Gulfstream Park. The veteran Exaggerator bay kicked off each season since 2023 with a Pegasus World Cup appearance, running to finishes of seventh (2023), DNF (2024), and third (2025). This time proved different, however, as Skippylongstocking, with Tyler Gaffalione in the irons, clawed his way back and pulled away late for the 1 ¾-length victory. Up to over $5.4 million in career earnings for owner Daniel Alonso, Skippylongstocking is 13-3-7 from 36 starts. He paid $45.20 on Saturday. Aced it Multiple graded stakes winner Test Score topped a Graham Motion-trained exacta in the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1T), Saturday at Gulfstream. Competing in his first Pegasus event, the 4-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky–Joy of Learning delivered an all-out effort that resulted in the colt edging out stablemate One Stripe (SAF) by a neck for the landmark score. Now 5-3-3 from 13 starts, Test Score also reached the $2 million earnings threshold for owner Amerman Racing. At 7-1 Saturday, Test Score paid $17.20. Don’t Be Upset Destino d’Oro earned the gold medal in Saturday’s $500,000 Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G2T), pulling off the upset at 15-1. Back at the friendly confines of Gulfstream Park following a Tropical Park Oaks triumph last time out (December 13), the 4-year-old Bolt d’Oro filly elevated her game with stakes raised. Working back from a difficult start, Destino d’Oro, under the steady hand of rider Junior Alvarado, came from the clouds to steal the 1 1/16-mile tilt from fellow underdog Crevalle d’Oro (31-1) by a half-length. The first Grade 2 triumph of the bay’s young career was her fifth win from eight starts (5-0-1; $829,884) for owner Steve Landers Racing. She paid $33.20. One to Remember Grand Job, after a year on the United Kingdom Thoroughbred circuit, joined the United States tour on Halloween night in 2024. On Saturday at Gulfstream, the 5-year-old mare tracked down her first graded win in the $225,000 Inside Information (G2). Sent off as the 2-1 choice, Grand Job did exactly that, confidently grabbing the lead at the half and gradually increasing her advantage before settling at a final win margin of 2 ¾ lengths. With the victory, the Bill Mott trainee improved to 4-4-0 through 10 starts ($325,726). For rider Junior Alvarado, the Inside Information represented his third stakes score of the card. Grand Job paid $6.20. Lay it On Gulfstream regular Layabout added another trophy to his already impressive collection with a resounding gate-to-wire success in Saturday’s $225,000 William L. McKnight (G3T). Operating out of post four, the 4-year-old Laoban gelding moved with purpose to set the pace for the 1 ½-mile turf event. Once in control, Layabout confidently fended off challengers as they approached, riding the momentum into a 1 ¼-length tally with rider David Egan at the helm. The first graded stakes win of the Patrick Biancone charge’s career follows a pair of stakes scores in the Bear’s Den and Tropical Park Derby, and boosted his lifetime scorecard to 5-1-0 from 10 starts ($389,545). At 6-1 in the McKnight, Layabout $14. Matthew Lomon, for Woodbine Share This:Share
