For the Record Wolfie’s Dynaghost stole the show in Saturday’s $200,000 Fort Lauderdale (G3T) at Gulfstream Park, completing the 1 1/8-mile contest in 1:43.42 to set a new track record With the spirited effort, the savvy five-year veteran bested the previous mark held by Warm Heart (1:44.45) by over one full second and rewrote the North American record over 1 1/8 miles on turf (Kostroma, 1:43.92, 1991, Santa Anita). The seventh stakes score of Wolfie’s Dynaghost’s standout career elevated the Brian Lynch trainee to 14-3-5 through 32 starts for breeder/owner Woodslane Farm. As the 4-5 choice Saturday, Wolfie’s Dynaghost paid $3.80. Wolfie’s Dynaghost winning the Autumn Stakes (G2) at Woodbine in 2023 (Michael Burns Photo) Off the Naughty List Two tough losses in a row didn’t deter Skippylongstocking from shining in Saturday’s $150,000 Harlan’s Holiday (G3) at Gulfstream Park. Eager to move past an August which produced finishes of seventh and eighth in the Whitney (G1) and Charles Town Classic (G2), respectively, the 6-year-old Exaggerator bay saved his best for last Saturday. Locked in a footrace with 3-2 favourite Poster down the lane, Skippylongstocking unleashed a furious push for home to get up by a head for the stabilizing win. Now a 10-time graded stakes victor for owner Daniel Alonso, the bay, bred by Brushy Hill has earned nearly $3.8 million across 35 starts (12-3-7). At 2-1, Skippylongstocking paid $6.80. Can’t Ruffle Me Chip Honcho dipped into the stakes pool for the first time in Saturday’s $100,000 Gun Runner at Fair Grounds and didn’t disappoint. Operating out of post one, the freshman Connect colt pressed the pace throughout the 1 1/16-mile affair before asserting himself in the final sixteenth with a valiant kick to usurp 6-5 choice Liberty National for the breakthrough tally. The second, and most memorable, win of Chip Honcho’s nascent career pushed the Steve Asmussen charge over $150,000 in earnings through three starts (2-1-0). A $210,000 purchase by Leland Ackerley Racing, Chip Honcho, at 3-1, paid $9.80. Sigh of Relief Hit Parade survived a stewards’ inquiry to capture the $100,000 Untapable Stakes and 10 Kentucky Oaks (G1) qualifying points, Saturday at Fair Grounds. Debuting at the stakes level off consecutive victories at Churchill Downs, the 2-year-old daughter of Street Sense–Wedding Band sat behind the pace early while allowing the race to develop. Once in position to strike entering the stretch, Hit Parade didn’t miss, striding past 8-1 rival Luv Your Neighbor to win by a head. Up to 4: 3-0-1 and nearly $148,000 for breeders/owners Gary and Mary West, Hit Parade paid $6.60 as the 2-1 choice on Saturday. Vindication Seeking her first stakes win since the Cheryl S. White Memorial in 2023, seasoned mare Jersey Pearl came through with a gem in the $150,000 Poinsettia, Sunday at Oaklawn Park. Making her fourth appearance of the season and fifteenth overall, the 5-year-old out of Perfect Soul (IRE) mare Jersey’s Soul got out to a clean start with Francisco Arrieta in the irons. The duo worked their way toward the front of the six-horse pack with the stretch approaching and were able to confidently speed ahead of 4-1 foe Benedetta for the two-length decision. Jersey Pearl’s second career stakes badge improved her scorecard to 6-3-3 with nearly $630,000 in prizes for owner Silverton Hill. At 5-1 in the Poinsettia, she paid $12.40.
