ICYMI: Scintillating Stakes Action Spans Across Kentucky, New York & Ontario

October 27, 2025

Aced It

Test Score had all the answers as the chalk 3-5 choice in Saturday’s $200,000 Twilight Derby (G2T) at Santa Anita.

Shipping from his usual East Coast digs, the 3-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky–Joy of Learning looked comfortable in his first California circuit appearance since last November, tracking the pace deep into the stretch before unleashing for the confident 1 ½-length tally.

Test Score has been a steady force this season for owners John and Jerry Amerman, collecting three wins – all three at the graded level – through seven starts (3-1-2), with a headlining triumph of the $750,000 Belmont Derby (G1T) on July 4 at Saratoga.

Now standing at 4-3-2 lifetime with nearly $1.45 million banked from 11 starts, Test Score paid $3.20 on Saturday.

Problem Solved

Donamire Farm homebred Troubleshooting nabbed his second consecutive graded stakes victory in a narrow conquest of the $600,000 Bryan Station (G3T), Saturday at Keeneland.

The 3-year-old dark bay played a starring role in sending the Lexington, Kentucky oval’s 17-day fall meet off in style, fending off a late challenge from 7-1 rival Tenacious Leader to secure a spot in the winner’s circle by a neck.

It’s been a breakout year for Troubleshooting, who after announcing his presence with a 2 ¼-length Dade Park Dash Stakes score on July 4, has rapidly ascended to ‘multiple graded stakes winner’ status.

Up to 4-2-0 and $1.7 million across seven 2025 starts for trainer Greg Foley, Troubleshooting paid $9.76 in the Bryan Station.

Nielsen Approved

Hit Show successfully topped the charts after closing hard to prevail in Saturday’s $350,000 Fayette (G3) at Keeneland.

Operating out of post 11 for trainer Brad Cox, the reigning Dubai World Cup (Gr. 1) champion held firm around the middle of the pack before making a move at the top of the stretch and finding a lane to storm home for the one-length decision.

The impressive victory also put the finishing touches on rider Irad Ortiz Jr.’s Keeneland fall meet title. The Eclipse Award-winning jockey rode 25 winners, eight more than the second-place finisher, with the Fayette representing his fourth graded stakes trophy.

Hit Show, boasting a 22: 11-1-1 lifetime line with nearly $8.8 million in the bank, paid $9.14.

Empire State of Mind

Bank Frenzy’s affinity for Aqueduct is simply undeniable.

On Saturday afternoon, the 2024 champion New York-bred older dirt male tracked down his seventh win in 11 starts at the Ozone Park oval, taking the $250,000 Empire Classic Stakes in thrilling fashion.

After claiming the lead in the upper stretch, Bank Frenzy was met with strong resistance from 1.96 second choice Doc Sullivan as the wire drew closer but was able to find a second gear and hold on by a neck for the pulse-pounding score.

The determined effort resulted in the Rudy Rodriguez charge’s sixth career stakes triumph, and fourth on the Aqueduct main course.

Improving to an impressive 10-5-0 through 20 starts, Bank Frenzy’s latest home-state success paid $6.32.

From the Clouds

A late strike from Incredibolt capped off a brilliant last to first rally in Sunday afternoon’s $200,000 Street Sense (G3) at Churchill Downs.

Trailing the seven-horse tilt into the half, the rookie Bolt d’Oro colt began his comeback trail by working his way into fourth at the three-quarter mark.

Still with ground to make up going into the stretch, Incredibolt, under rider Jaime Torres, found another gear and thundered home to top the charts by 1 ¾-lengths in his graded stakes debut.

Trending up with wins in consecutive starts (3: 2-0-0 overall), Incredibolt, who was bred by Deann Baer & Greg Baer, DVM, paid $10.18.
