A fitting victory It was a perfectly timed breakthrough for 3-year-old filly Leona Whiteblaze, who on Saturday at Woodbine, scored her first career victory on National Indigenous Peoples Day while donning Indigenous silks for Indigenous owner Oh Em Gee Stable. Trained by Harold Ladouceur, who in 2024 was inducted into the North American Indigenous Hall of Fame, the daughter of Society’s Chairman–Leona Vander (GB) showed impressive poise and tenacity to win race two at 8-1. Leona Whiteblaze’s memorable maiden tally paid $19.90. Like Father, Like Son Miguel Clement, son of the late champion conditioner Christophe Clement, celebrated an impressive stakes score on Saturday when favourite Love Cervere took all the spoils in the $100,000 Alywow Presented by the Greenwood Stakes. A patient trip from rider Eric Cancel left the 3-year-old bay daughter of Into Mischief– Panther Strike with plenty in the tank to pull away from a pair of rivals for the confident 2 ½-length triumph.
