TORONTO, August 23 – First-rate food, fabulous music, first-class horse racing and a fight for the ages: Woodbine Ribfest presented by Budweiser has something for everyone, including the chance to catch the live pay-per-view bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Those attending Woodbine Ribfest on Saturday, August 26 – the event runs from the 25-27 – will not only have the opportunity to enjoy award-winning fare from five of North America’s top rib teams and featured vendors, they’ll also have the chance to watch a sporting event the whole world is talking about. For $15 (part of the proceeds will go to Woodbine Cares charities), fans can see the super welterweight boxing extravaganza – live from the Budweiser Paddock – that features a clash of the trash-talking titans. A 15-time boxing champion, the man known as “Money” Mayweather is set to go toe-toe with UFC superstar “The Notorious” McGregor in a scheduled 12-round bout. Mayweather heads into the fight with an undefeated 49-0 (26 KOs) mark, while McGregor puts on the gloves for his first professional boxing match. The fight, which was agreed upon this June, was followed up by a press tour that saw the two larger-than-life personalities trade plenty of headline-worthy barbs before they step into the ring to trade jabs and uppercuts. In 2016, Mayweather, 40, was named the best “pound-for-pound” boxer of the last 25 years by ESPN. The Michigan-born pugilist, who counts wins over Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao, has notched titles in four divisions over his 24-year career along with a bronze medal for the U.S. at the 1996 Olympics. His last bout prior to Saturday’s showdown was a win over Andre Berto on September 12, 2015. McGregor, 29, is the current UFC lightweight title-holder. The native of Dublin, Ireland, who has racked up 18 career KOs in the Octagon, sports a career record of 21-3 since turning pro nine years ago. His last fight came at UFC 205 in November, with McGregor walking out as the lightweight champ. Who will emerge victorious on Saturday night? Find out at Canada’s Showplace of Racing.
