TORONTO, September 26, 2018 – Meet-leading trainer Norm McKnight and jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva dominated Wednesday evening’s eight-race program at Woodbine Racetrack. McKnight and Da Silva both ended the night with five victories, combining for four. Touch of Disney kicks off a multiple-win night for jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva, trainer Norm McKnight and owner Bruno Schickedanz. (Michael Burns Photo) Their winning crusade began in the second race courtesy of Touch of Disney ($3.10), one of four Wednesday winners owned by Bruno Schickedanz, who tops all owners for victories at the meet. McKnight and Da Silva then struck again in the following race with Giant Storm ($5.50), who is owned by Calico Racing Stable and Gary McMaster. Ademar Santos was aboard two-year-old filly Twitter Storm ($12.80), who made her career debut a winning one in the fifth race for McKnight and Schickedanz. Springdetti ($3) and the streaking Love That Lute ($3.10) then won the next two races in rein to Da Silva for that top trainer-owner combination. Da Silva closed out the card winning his fifth of the night and 149th of the meet with Cuatthfinishline ($4) for trainer John Charalambous and owners Chris George and Jason McKellar. He now holds a 28-win lead in the standings over Rafael Hernandez, who accomplished the feat of winning five times on a Woodbine card twice this year (April 21 and June 16). McKnight previously won fives races on a single card during last year’s 14-race season finale when he clinched his first Thoroughbred training title at Woodbine, ending the season with 99 victories. With his latest five-win night, he pushed his current meet-leading win total to 82. Mark Casse, who is the only other trainer to win five on a card this meet (June 9), sits second in the standings with 76 wins. Live Thoroughbred racing continues at Woodbine on Friday. First race post time is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Share This:Share
