TORONTO, April 25, 2026 – Munnings filly Mony Mony came through Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack for jockey Sofia Vives’ third consecutive Star Shoot Stakes victory. Besting six three-year-old filly rivals in the $125,000 six-furlong event, Mony Mony and Vives won an early battle for the lead to hold a clear advantage through the opening-quarter. Mony Mony calmly took the field around the turn with Day to Day about a length off and 7/2 second-choice Lakota Lady following right behind. The stretch run saw Day to Day fade away from the leader, while Lakota Lady looked poised to give Mony Mony a scare. However, Mony Mony would not let Lakota Lady turn the tables and finished powerfully to secure the victory by a length. The fractions for the six-furlongs were :22.80, :46.30, :58.42 and final time of 1:11.02. Day to Day finished third, while Edey ran fourth. A $110,000 two-year-old purchase at the OBS Spring Sale in April 2025, Mony Mony is owned by Scott Dilworth, Evan Dilworth and Randy Andrews. The victory for Mony Mony was a bounce back after finishing sixth last time out in the Serena’s Song Stakes at Turfway on March 28. That loss snapped a two-race win streak. “He messaged me this morning and said he was very confident in her, so if a trainer like Joe Sharp says that you better be confident,” said Vives, who won last year’s Star Shoot with Brindi (IRE) and the 2024 edition with Sabatini. “When you’re on the lead you have to ride confident and last start she didn’t win on the lead but I thought if we can get soft fractions today and let her catch her breath and get her legs under her…it was going to be really in her favour.” Now a stakes winner, Mony Mony has three wins in seven career starts and earnings exceeding $215,000. The Sharp student was the public’s top choice and paid $5.90 to win. Live racing continues Sunday afternoon with another eight-race card. The $125,000 Woodstock Stakes is the feature event (Race 7, 4:37 p.m.). Post time is 1:20 p.m. Replay of the Star Shoot Stakes Share This:Share
