TORONTO, September 7 — Silent Sonet suffered some serious traffic problems in the stretch when last starting here in the Passing Mood Stakes. On Sunday, she will be seeking to atone when she takes on seven other Ontario-sired fillies in the $125,000 La Prevoyante Stakes over one mile of the turf course. Silent Sonet was sent off at 2-5 in the Passing Mood, which was run over seven furlongs of Tapeta after originally being scheduled for turf, but wound up in third place. “It was just a nasty trip,” said Nick Gonzalez, who conditions the homebred Silent Sonet for the Tall Oaks Farm of Ivan Dalos. “She tried to go in between horses, and got halfway up in there and the hole wasn’t there. She went from going to the lead to getting checked and bounced around and dropping back. “By the time she got it back together and going again, the race was pretty well over and she was just a closing third. “You think you ran the best horse, and you might have, but you didn’t win. That’s just racing.” Silent Sonet had debuted on May 20 with an impressive maiden victory and then finished a close fourth in the Alywow Stakes before recording another romping win in her start prior to the Passing Mood. “We had her last year as a two-year-old, and she was showing all the good stuff as a baby,” said Gonzalez. “We almost had her there (to the races) last fall, she had a little baby this and a little baby that and we had to back off on her. “It’s no surprise that she’s the kind of horse she’s turned out to be. We knew we had something special.” Eurico Rosa da Silva, who has picked up the mount on Silent Sonet, was aboard when the filly tuned up for the La Prevoyante with five furlongs in a bullet 1:00 last Friday. “He came off the racetrack smiling and beaming after he breezed her,” said Gonzalez. “She’s doing well; she’s in good shape.” The sharp and consistent Listenlindalisten became a stakes winner in the Aug. 2 Passing Mood and returned to double up two weeks later in the Eternal Search, a 1 1/16 mile race for Ontario-sired three-year-old fillies on the main track.Trained by Mark Casse for the Conrad Farm of Manfred and Penny Conrad, Listenlindalisten had ended a close third in the Ontario Damsel over a mile of turf prior to her stakes double and her front-running style makes her a very dangerous rival. Patrick Husbands, who was in the irons for the Eternal Search and for Listenlindalisten’s maiden victory, again will do the honours. Kadley closed strongly to finish a troubled third in the Eternal Search, just two lengths shy of Listenlindalistenand and a neck behind the runner-up. The homebred, who races for Ron and Teresa Gierkink, was making her stakes debut there after running third when making her first start on turf at 1 1/8 miles. Gary Boulanger retains the mount. Rounding out the field will be Hailey’s Prize, Cindervella, Lisa’s Escarpment, Red Cabernet, and Deesse Nike. $125,000 La Prevoyante Stakes (Race 8)PP – Horse – Jockey – Trainer1.
