TORONTO, September 6 – Sly Roxy, the first offspring of Canadian champion Roxy Gap, will make her Woodbine debut in Saturday’s $100,000 Ontario Debutante Stakes, at Woodbine. Trained by Mark Casse, the Indian Charlie bay won at first asking with an impressive 5 1/2-length score at Saratoga on July 27. She returned on August 12 in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes but failed to threaten when fifth. The Ontario-bred Roxy Gap, Canada’s champion older mare and female sprinter in 2012, was a multiple graded stakes winner at Woodbine for Casse and her owner-breeder Eugene Melnyk. Her second foal, a filly by Medaglia d’Oro, will sell at the upcoming Keeneland Yearling Sale. Sly Roxy, a Kentucky-bred, will look to channel some of that rich talent as she makes her Woodbine debut in Saturday’s six furlong Tapeta sprint for juvenile fillies. The First Dude bay will boast the services of leading rider Eurico Rosa da Silva. A compact field of five also includes Presage, Glamanation and Honey Graeme. Presage, trained and part-owned by Eoin Harty, landed fifth here in the My Dear Stakes on June 24 and came out of that event to graduate in a maiden allowance tilt at Presque Isle Downs. Jesse Campbell has the call. Gary Boulanger, who was aboard Presage in the My Dear, will ride Glamanation who with four starts is the most experienced runner in the field. The Point of Entry bay, trained and part-owned by Mike Doyle, was fourth in the My Dear but came right back to win the restricted Shady Well Stakes with an impressive rally after a troubled start. She ran fifth last time out in a seven furlong allowance sprint on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course. Honey Graeme, a bay daughter of Graeme Hall trained by Rick Violette for owner Ralph M. Evans, won at first asking in a maiden allowance event at Saratoga on August 6. Bred in Florida by Norman and Mark Casse, Honey Graeme is out of Howaboutrightnow who won the 2006 edition of the Maple Leaf Stakes for that same duo. Luis Contreras will ride.
