Sent off at 9-2, the son of Silver Max-Estella arrived at Sunday’s affair off a sharp second in the Steady Growth Stakes this past December, where he missed top prize by a head. Owned by Equus Holdings and Archie Lee, Grandson paid $11.80 for the win. He took the first with Empty Gesture and the seventh with Wicked Django. Journeyman, ridden by journeyman Ryan Munger, split horses late to win Sunday’s ninth race.
