Trainer Steve Attard won his 500th career race on Saturday when Lantana Lady, at 11-1, took top prize in the seventh race, a five-furlong, $113,700 dash over the inner turf.

The veteran conditioner, who has recorded over $16 million in career purse earnings, has eight career stakes victories.

Bred and owned by Brian Cullen, Lantana Lady, who paid $24.30 for the milestone win, has five victories from nine lifetime starts.

On a day that honoured his 30 years of riding at Woodbine, Patrick Husbands delivered a top-shelf performance in Saturday’s Ruling Angel Stakes. In rein to Witwatersrand, the veteran rider held a patient hand before rousing his charge to the lead for the impressive four-length win.

Trained by Mark Casse for owner Gary Barber, Witwatersand, Canada’s champion 2-year-old Female, paid $4.20 for the victory.

As the road to The King’s Plate (August 17) heats up, My Boy Prince served notice he is one to keep tabs on ahead of Canada’s most famous horse race.

On Sunday, the handsome son of Cairo Prince delivered a sterling 6 ¾-length score in the $100,000 King Corrie Stakes.

Trained by Mark Casse and owned by Gary Barber, the grey colt returned $2.30 for the win.

Poseiden Steel, a grey son of Frac Daddy, pulled off the 17-1 upset on Sunday. The 5-year-old is trained, co-owned and co-bred by Gord Colbourne.
