This weekly feature offers a look back at the best Thoroughbred races and/or performances of the week at Woodbine. #5 – Saturday, July 16; Race 4; Colin Stakes – Not a big field , but the five-furlong race did feature some of the fastest 2-year-old colts and geldings at Woodbine this year. Banner Bill, Town Prize, The Bear Vow and My People were all given chances to win, but it was Banner Bill who emerged by a length for jockey David Clark and trainer Ralph Biamonte. Click here #4 – Saturday, July 16; Race 10 – The largest win payoff of the month and second largest of the meet came when Delawana, for Davy Moran and Mike Keogh, sent a few people home happy in the afternoon’s finale, a maiden allowance race, with a wire-to-wire 1/2–length victory, paying $166.70. Click here #3 – Wednesday, July 13; Race 4; Ontario Jockey Club Stakes – Stormy Lord is a contender for the bravest horse at Woodbine with several never-say-die efforts. He produced another fruitful one here in fast time (seven furlongs of “firm” turf in 1:21.90 and Beyer figure of 91) for Jim McAleney and Ian Black, edging Officeinthevalley by a length in the $100,000 stakes event. Click here #2 – Sunday, July 17; Race 4 – D’oro Diablo and Gypsy Ring hooked up early and ran their eyeballs out, neither giving an inch as the former edged the latter by a neck in fast time (six furlongs of "firm turf" in 1:08.71; Beyer speed figure of 92 and 91, the best of the week) for Gerry Olguin and Sid Attard in the allowance tilt. Click here #1 – Saturday, July 16; Race 8; Toronto Cup Stakes – Is in early contention for race of the year after a thrilling five-horse photo finish, in which the group was separated by a neck, head, head and nose at the wire.
