TORONTO, December 4, 2018 – Each week, track announcer Robert Geller comments on some of the performances that caught his eye, highlighting horses to key in on for upcoming races at Woodbine. BALA FALLS (November 25, Race 1, No. 8, 2nd) First-timer Bala Falls outran his 20-1 odds, fighting on gamely off a wide trip for second to runaway winner Souper Success. Rider Gary Boulanger managed to keep him on task despite the two-year-old gelding wanting to lug about in the stretch. Bala Falls finished the closest of four newcomers in the field, a length and a quarter clear of Kid Forester in third. By Not Bourbon from a Bold Ruckus dam, Bala Falls may continue to offer value in an Ontario-sired maiden special weight. CHEEKYLICIOUS (November 28, Race 5, No. 1, 2nd) Living right up to her name, debutante Cheekylicious ran a zippy and cheeky second at six furlongs to Truly Honored, the winner having enjoyed a charmed run throughout. Cheekylicious broke well, showing good early pace and an ability to relax up the backstretch. She found herself pressed throughout by Forest Fairy, who paid the price weakening to third. Cheekylicious faced several challengers in the home stretch and went down fighting beaten a half-length.
