Woodbine’s Jackpot Hi-5 hit on Saturday for over $106,000

July 12, 2015

TORONTO, July 11…The Jackpot Hi-5, a unique 20-cent wager on the last race of the day or evening that requires a person to not only select the first five finishers in order, but also be the only one to have the winning numbers, was hit for $106,489.87 after Saturday’s 10th race at Woodbine.
On Saturday, someone took the entire pot with the numbers 4-8-3-6-11 for the seven furlong turf $40,000 claimer. The three and one-half length winner was an 8-1 shot, Hot Hot Heat (#4), trained by Sid Attard and ridden by Patrick Husbands. Holy McNasty (#8), a 9-1 outsider, finished second, with Imperatore (#3) third at 20-1.
Closing for fourth was Colonel Krenz (#6), another 8-1 shot, while Invisible (#11), the second longest shot on the board at 45-1, wound up fifth.
If more than one winning ticket has been issued, then half of the Jackpot Hi-5 pool is paid out to those winners while the other half is carried over to the following day’s card, hence the build-up.
On Sunday, the Jackpot Hi-5 on the 10th race, another seven furlong turf race, will begin again from scratch with no carry-over.
