Best for last

Emma-Jayne Wilson, who has a penchant for winning the last race on the card, did just that on Saturday when she teamed with Roger Attfield trainee Devil’s Bit to take race No. 10. The multiple graded stakes jockey has recorded 1,816 career wins.

Wired for victory

Ticker Tape Home took the lead at the outset of Saturday’s $125,000 Fury Stakes Presented by Stella Artois and never looked back, trouncing her rivals in the seven-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies foaled in Canada. Patrick Husbands rode the winner for dual hall of fame trainer Mark Casse and owner Live Oak Plantation.

Worth repeating

“I do my best and I try hard for everybody I ride for. I will keep doing it until the season is over.” – jockey Rico Walcott, after guiding Kaukokaipuu to a win in the $125,000 Queenston Stakes.
