Clocker Report: Horses to watch this weekend

August 25, 2017

TORONTO, August 25 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri comments on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]

Friday, Race 3 – Tethras Magic

Ernie said: "On August 18, Tethras Magic, with Moran up for DePaulo, worked :47.20b, galloped out in :59.60 with a final three-eighths in :34.8. Contentious race, but this horse is in fine form and can pay a price. After the break, the track was slow rated 2."

Friday, Race 5 – Silent Poet

Ernie said: "Silent Poet, with Wilson for Gonzalez, worked on July 31 in :23.20, :47.40, :59.60, out in 1:13.8 with three-year-old English Rain, easily in front of that one under a hard hold. Before the break, the track was quick rated 3.5. He had a follow up work in :59.60 beating Meadow Rose by two lengths."

Saturday, Race 3 – Wonder Gadot

Ernie said: "Wonder Gadot, with Husbands on for Casse, worked in 1:00.20 on August 19 beating company moving very easily. He also beat company in previous work. Just after the break, the track was rated 3 fair. May offer value in this spot."
