EPISODE 3: Jesse Campbell’s Path to the Plate

June 18, 2014

TORONTO, June 18 – In the third episode of a special four-part series following Jesse Campbell’s Path to the Plate, fans are invited inside the private home life of the veteran rider in his pursuit of Canada’s most prestigious race.

Last season, Campbell partnered Tucci Stables standout Midnight Aria to a front-running victory in the $1-million Queen’s Plate, the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing and the longest continuously run stakes race in North America.

The 35-year-old rider is determined to return to the Plate again in 2014 and Woodbine Broadcast Producer Phil McSween is following Campbell on his journey as part of an exclusive to QueensPlate.Com.

In Episode 1, Campbell explained how a 10-year-old gelding, owned by the Tucci Stables, helped him secure a winning mount in the Queen’s Plate. Watch the first episode by clicking here: http://weg.bz/1kurTKm

Episode 2 follows Campbell through morning breezes and then goes in depth on race day as Campbell guides Coltimus Prime in a 1 1/16-mile allowance tilt and then Eighty Nine Red in the Queenston Stakes. Watch the second episode by clicking here, http://weg.bz/1mfm0Sj

In Episode 3, Campbell opens up about the day-to-day struggles of riding in the most competitive races on the continent.
"I’m not naturally 114 pounds and show up on race day and there it is," said Campbell. "People don’t know that I ran seven miles yesterday on my day off just to stay fit and keep my weight down."
