TORONTO, June 11, 2018 – Woodbine’s award-winning track photographer Michael Burns and social media coordinator Adrienne Shaw captured highlights from this weekend’s Woodbine Oaks day on Saturday, June 9. The afternoon began with a Woodbine Oaks-themed Meet and Greet in the grandstand where fans met with Hall of Fame jockey Sandy Hawley, who won the Oaks a record eight times, as well as last year’s winner Luis Contreras, 2010 Oaks champion David Moran and Jeffrey Alderson, who was among this year’s starters. (Photos of the meet and greet by Adrienne Shaw) Joined by her family and fellow jockeys, Emma-Jayne Wilson received the 2018 Avelino Gomez Memorial Award in a special presentation on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course following the second race. (Photos of the award presentation by Adrienne Shaw) Road to Victory kicked off the stakes action with an “Aly-Wow” performance for trainer Mark Casse, who ended the day with five wins including a victory in the Plate Trial as winterbook favourite Telekinesis, with Patrick Husbands aboard, prepped for next month’s $1 million Queen’s Plate in fine fashion.
