TORONTO, Novemebr 14, 2018 – The Woodbine jockey colony protested continued turf racing for the rest of the year prompting the cancellation of Wednesday night’s first race.
Woodbine management has decided to move Friday’s and Saturday’s turf races to the Tapeta and the turf races on Sunday will also be offered on the Tapeta.
“We addressed the jockeys’ concerns about turf racing at Woodbine,” said Jonathan Zammit, VP of Thoroughbred Racing Operations. “They then made the decision to ride the rest of Wednesday night’s card.”
The Woodbine management team will deliberate on the continued turf racing for the remainder of the season on Thursday morning.
