Toronto Maple Leafs alum Carlo Colaiacovo named drawmaster for the Pattison Canadian International

TORONTO, October 3, 2019 – The post position draw for the $800,000 Pattison Canadian International (Grade 1) will be conducted next Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Woodbine Racetrack with Toronto Maple Leafs alum Carlo Colaiacovo serving as guest drawmaster.

The former NHL player will assist with the post position draw at the media conference and luncheon, which will be held in the Trackside Clubhouse beginning at 12 noon.

Born in Toronto, Colaiacovo was drafted 17th overall in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and played in the NHL for 14 years, including his first six seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the fall of 2008, he was traded to the St. Louis Blues where he played for the next four years and posted a career-best 32 points during the 2009-2010 season.

Colaiacovo also played for the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres and most recently the Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey League in Germany. The left-shot defenceman scored 34 goals and 123 assists for 157 points in 470 games played during his NHL career.

Colaiacovo currently co-hosts First Up on TSN 1050 Toronto radio station with Michael Landsberg.

The Pattison Canadian International is a Grade 1 stakes race for horses three years old and up and will be contested at a distance of 1-1/2 miles over Woodbine’s world-renowned E.P. Taylor Turf Course on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The connections of the horses competing in this year’s edition are invited to Wednesday’s post position draw and will also be available to speak with media.
