TORONTO, September 29, 2018 – Clad in scarlet striped silks, meet-leading jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva worked out a divine trip aboard favourite Unseen Angels to win the inaugural $50,000 Lady In Red Handicap, restricted to chestnut fillies and mares, on Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack. Hailing from the red-hot Norm McKnight stable, Bruno Schickedanz’s popular chestnut mare Unseen Angels flew out of the gate from the outside post and led at every call in the seven-furlong main track event to stop the clock in 1:23.61. Bella Figura darted through along the rail to edge out Belle Danseuse for the runner-up role. Despite being handicapped as the 126-pound high weight of the eight-horse field, Unseen Angels was the talk of the toteboard and the winning selection of Aristeo Fermin, who won the chance to make a $1,000 Win wager on the race as part of the Lady In Red festivities. Sent postward as the 3-5 favourite, Unseen Angels returned $3.40 to win, resulting in a $1,700 prize for Fermin. The Lady In Red consisted of chestnut fillies and mares three years old and up which have started for a claiming price of $20,000 or less in 2017-18. For the second time this week, Da Silva won five races on a single card.
