Woodbine welcomes its first Flightline filly

TORONTO, July 25, 2026 – Woodbine is set to welcome its first offspring by superstar stallion Flightline as Go For Launch makes her debut in Race 5 on Saturday’s card.

The 2-year-old filly, trained by Kevin Attard for Blue Heaven Farm, will contest a $115,000 Maiden Special Weight over the inner turf from post 4 with Pietro Moran aboard.

Flightline, a son of Tapit, retired unbeaten after winning all six of his starts, including a dominant victory in the 2022 Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) by the largest margin in the race’s history. He recorded $4,514,800 in purse earnings, and was named 2022 Horse of the Year and Champion Older Dirt Male.

After the Breeders’ Cup, he was retired to stud with a market value of $184 million.

His first crop has already generated significant attention. A 2-year-old colt sold for $10.5 million at the 2026 Ocala Breeders’ Sales (OBS), shattering the previous OBS 2-year-old record of $3 million. Through his first seven starters in North America, every runner has finished in the money, highlighted by Flight Command, who won his debut by 10 lengths, remarkably close to Flightline’s average winning margin during his own racing career.

Now, Woodbine gets its first look at one of the stallion’s offspring.

“A horse coming into the barn by Flightline, obviously, you know, he’s the talk of the town,” said Attard. “He was a great racehorse. I was actually there when he won the Classic at Keeneland. So, it’s pretty cool that we have the first Flightline to run at Woodbine.

“It’s some pressure as well because he’s off to a good start as a stallion, and we just want that trend to continue.”

Go For Launch has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favourite in the field of nine. Royal Foxtrot, by Olympiad, is listed at 3-1, while Any Oscar, by Oscar Performance, sits at 4-1.

The filly enters her debut off three consecutive bullet workouts, including a four-furlong move in :46.80 over the all-weather surface, an identical :46.80 drill on Woodbine’s training turf, and most recently three furlongs in :35.40 on the all-weather.

“She’s kind of figuring things out,” Attard said. “She’s definitely gotten a lot more aggressive in her training. On a daily basis, she kind of knows what her job is now.”

Go For Launch is also royally bred on the dam’s side.

Her dam, Starship Jubilee, trained by Attard, won 19 of 39 starts and posted purse earnings of $2,093,068 during a remarkable career.

“First and foremost, just having anything out of Starship Jubilee is very sentimental for me because she was such a great horse and kind of helped put me on the map,” Attard said.

Starship Jubilee captured the Sovereign Award as Champion Turf Female in 2017, 2018 and 2019 before being named Canada’s Horse of the Year in 2019.

She won five of her six starts in 2020 before making her final appearance in the Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1), where she unseated her rider leaving the gate.

With the accomplishments of both her sire and dam, expectations naturally accompany Go For Launch into her debut, though Attard knows there are no guarantees with a first-time starter.

“She’s done everything well,” he said. “They’re babies. Anything can happen on race day. But if she keeps her composure and breaks well, I think she’s going to run super.”
