NEW GO STATION COMING TO WOODBINE RACETRACK

Bringing new transit options to the GTHA

Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) has proposed a new GO Station to be developed in partnership with Metrolinx, located at 555 Rexdale Boulevard (Woodbine Racetrack) in the City of Toronto. The proposed GO station is anticipated to evolve into a multi-modal transportation hub that will increase annual visits to the Woodbine Districts to potentially over 16 million. GO Transit currently operates train service along the Kitchener Rail Corridor, from Union Station in Toronto to Kitchener GO Station in Kitchener. The project will provide a new station stop along the Kitchener Rail Corridor.

A more connected GTHA

Highway 27-Woodbine Station will offer safe, accessible, and efficient transit options to residents of the Etobicoke community and surrounding areas. As part of Ontario’s broader strategy to deliver more transit solutions in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), a new station in this community will address transit needs and provide relief to people who rely on the GO network. The new transit station will ultimately better connect nearby residents to the GO network and strengthen connections to other parts of Toronto and surrounding cities.

The Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) will be followed in completing environmental assessment (EA) of the Highway 27-Woodbine Station, located at 555 Rexdale Boulevard in the City of Toronto. The EA work is currently underway to understand existing conditions and environmental impacts of the transit project.

Public Meeting

Prior to the TPAP commencement, a Public Meeting was held on October 10, 2019 at the Humberwood Community Centre. The informational boards from the meeting are provided below.

Notice of Commencement

The Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) commenced on November 21, 2019. Refer to the Notice of Commencement for additional details regarding this process.

Notice of Completion of Environmental Project Report

The environmental effects of the Highway 27-Woodbine Station were assessed and an Environmental Project Report (EPR) has been prepared to document the findings and proposed mitigation, according to the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP). The EPR is now available for review for a 30-day public review period starting February 13, 2020 and ending March 16, 2020. The Notice of Completion and the EPR are provided below.

Statement of Completion

The Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks issued a Notice to Proceed with the Highway 27-Woodbine Station Project on April 20, 2020. See below for the Notice to Proceed and Statement of Completion.
